  • Park Find 9.24.09

So after a very quiet season at the dog park, an interesting occurrence did happen. A young bold squirrel was following… actually chasing a woman walking her Aussie pup. As she was pulling the dog away, the relentless squirrel pursued so I stepped in. The docile little creature was extremely curious and allowed me to not only crouch down beside and pet it but even crawled into my outreached hands. After several attempts to leave him in various wooded areas [...]

  • Park Find 10.13.08 – Shades

When I find a pair of shades I like I hold on to them with dear life. They become part of my being, physiology, and the stress of losing them gets tense. So its always surprising to me when I come across an abandoned or lost pair. I found and redistributed plenty over the years.  This tortoise-shell beauty with huge lenses sends me back to the 70′s. Sweet.

  • Parkfind 10.12.08 – Dogwhistle

Can you hear that? Neither can I but those canines seem attentive when I sample this new park find. With an adjustable twist screw it can be customized to any dogs frequency and its solid metal construction just makes it cool. The handy little swivel loop guarantees a place on the key chain.

  • Park Find 10.11.08 – Fire Extinguisher

As we walked and talked… there it was all red and shiny in contrast to the wet green grass. “And how did you get here?” I ask aloud lifting the thing and pulling the trigger. A small wisp of vapor. Empty. Realized expectations. but disappointing because I was hoping to reenact a scene from WALL-E I had just seen. Its funny the looks you receive when circling the park with a fire extinguisher in hand. You can never be too [...]

  • Park Find 10.10.08 Plastic Skull

Sticking out of the mud was the distinct dirt-filled smile of a human skull. Of course it was just a small plastic replica missing its top but I knew a score when I stumbled across it. After a quick cleansing it was ready to meet the gang. I’m sure they have much to discuss.

  • Park Find 9.12.09 – Paratrooper

Not the first soldier recovered from the park but a real trooper none the less. This little purple warrior could not even get his chute to deploy and when I tried he got a bit tangled. A new habitat sprouted and caused all sorts of havoc. Fortunately the bee was engaged in its own ritual… which takes me back to the days of bizzbombs and the PBC. Melted armymen stuck to walls set ablaze to drip molten plastic. What a [...]

  • Park Find 9.23.08 – Binky 24

When will these babies ever learn? The count just increased to 24. Right there inside the dog park next to a dogless dogtag, a nameless phone number only dogtag, purple even, sits binky number 24 anticipating my arrival. Since the tag was running solo I not going to call.

  • Park Find 9.22.09 – Level

Today was full of excitement as we took over the the new old temporary dog park. It started with a little white ball.  At first I though it a ping pong ball but it was to weighty upon lifting for that.  The hard rigid plastic was smooth with a translucent milky look. Score. Soon after, I found a small acrylic level. Probably a long defunct keychain but still quite  effective in it clear transparent shell all squared up and angular. [...]

  • Park Find 9.15.08 – Necklace

Today’s find is a beautiful hand-beaded necklace made of white and hematite-looking glass beads a most unfortunate loss I’m sure . It was next to a pair of black socks which I did not deem collection worthy. I did find a couple of plastic rings probably left over from some birthday party. They’re cheapie plastic and most likely Fred Meyer cake bauble. Just one of those jewelry filled days.

  • Park Find 9.10.08 – Pacifier

It’s official. A new record has been set. Number 23 is in the house. I find a lot of binkies around the park. Those pacifiers come in all sorts of colors and combinations and sizes for that matter. Probably due to the mommy brigades out there. You’ve seen them in the mornings, the gathering of fresh moms pushing strollers in packs exercising the baby fat away. I commend them for their diligence to health and for supplying me with yet [...]
