Park Find 10.13.08 – Shades

Park Find 10.13.08 Shades

When I find a pair of shades I like I hold on to them with dear life. They become part of my being, physiology, and the stress of losing them gets tense. So its always surprising to me when I come across an abandoned or lost pair. I found and redistributed plenty over the years.  This tortoise-shell beauty with huge lenses sends me back to the 70’s. Sweet.

Parkfind 10.12.08 – Dogwhistle

Parkfind 10.12.08 Dogwhistle

Can you hear that? Neither can I but those canines seem attentive when I sample this new park find. With an adjustable twist screw it can be customized to any dogs frequency and its solid metal construction just makes it cool. The handy little swivel loop guarantees a place on the key chain.

The Chicken and The Village

greggprint1.jpg Portland Oregon. I feel plucked and quartered when reviewing the past few weeks… a well worked chicken all tender yet crispy. The pace, the beautiful trails of spinning t shirts, the pulse of the jungle hiphop beat, the jolt of thundermuck coursing my veins, combine for some mighty production. The Village treats me well and I it. Screen printing.  Nutcase nutcases,  Cascade Volcanoes, even Sarah Palin’s face albeit altered a degree. Dance for Change Obama fundraiser (over $20,000) Dancin’ Bare – 13 years and counting, Coraline production T-shirts thanks to What Sew Ever and more. Yes the phantom chicken is well fed and thankful and looks forward to a good night’s sleep.

Park Find 10.11.08 – Fire Extinguisher

parkfindfireext.jpg

As we walked and talked… there it was all red and shiny in contrast to the wet green grass. “And how did you get here?” I ask aloud lifting the thing and pulling the trigger. A small wisp of vapor. Empty. Realized expectations. but disappointing because I was hoping to reenact a scene from WALL-E I had just seen. Its funny the looks you receive when circling the park with a fire extinguisher in hand. You can never be too cautious we’re told. Perhaps.

Park Find 10.10.08 Plastic Skull

 Park Find 10.10.08 Plastic Skull

Sticking out of the mud was the distinct dirt-filled smile of a human skull. Of course it was just a small plastic replica missing its top but I knew a score when I stumbled across it. After a quick cleansing it was ready to meet the gang. I’m sure they have much to discuss.

Park Find 9.12.09 – Paratrooper

paratrooper1.jpgNot the first soldier recovered from the park but a real trooper none the less. This little purple warrior could not even get his chute to deploy and when I tried he got a bit tangled. A new habitat sprouted and caused all sorts of havoc. Fortunately the bee was engaged in its own ritual… which takes me back to the days of bizzbombs and the PBC. Melted armymen stuck to walls set ablaze to drip molten plastic. What a thrill to receive the circular scar and the bonus was the quickly cooling plastic to chew on.

Chicken Store Launch

little_chicken.png  I am very excited to roll out the official online retail storefront for Phantom Chicken!  Appropriately named:  The Chickenstore

Before now, the only place you could purchase one of our shirts was at the annual Belmont Street Fair… and with many of you asking “where is your store?” we decided it was time to make this happen!

The store is filled with many items from t-shirts to art prints.  This is a different type of t-shirt store…. we only list what we have in stock, and we don’t want to keep much inventory.  So what is listed is what is in stock.

In the near future, we will be starting a monthly “featured print” where we will set a print date, and offer presales.  This way we will be able to offer choices in shirt size, color and style.  Then when the print date rolls around, we print just what was ordered (and a few extra for the Chickenstore) that way we don’t waste shirts, ink, and time… and you get exactly what you want!

We hope you have fun scratching around and while you are there, don’t forget to sign up for our newsletter so you can be “in the know” for featured prints and other chicken updates.
